There is something very special about a relationship with a horse - especially with young children. To learn to handle these big and powerful animals and to create a relationship of trust gives a child a confidence that is everlasting. It’s about friendship and bonding.
My friend and longtime client Kathy, loves horses, and she most generously shares her passion with her granddaughters. With the help of her horse savvy daughter Sarah, they not only teach the girls to ride, but more importantly, they allow the girls to develop a close bond with these magnificent and kind creatures.
See the stories play out below in photos that capture the girls with their horses on a sunny afternoon late last summer at their property on Bainbridge.
Ruby casually walks sweet Annie up the path with Stella tirelessly tagging along. You can tell Ruby has done this a hundred times. Confidence. Mastery. Friendship.
{I LOVE the pink water bucket!)
Amanda and Bubbles: BAREBACK AT FIVE and totally at ease...this says so much to me; for a young child to feel confident and trusting while on a pretty good sized pony! Trusting. Innocent. Capable. (I love fat ponies!)
Anna in a field of golden grass, sun setting, with Fancy. A gentle kiss on a soft velvet muzzle is irresistible to most horse girls. Grace. Beauty. Connection.
Grayson & Amanda.
Boys can love horses too! Especially if their favorite cousin is horse crazy.
Helpful. Competent. Belonging.
